Obituary of Jeno Czabafy
Jeno Czabafy, 82, passed away peacefully in New Jersey on June 19, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.
Born on January 31, 1944, in Budapest, Hungary, Jeno's life was a testament to resilience, perseverance, and the power of family. Before he was one year old, his family escaped Hungary in search of a better future. They spent several years in a displaced persons camp in Germany before immigrating to New Jersey when Jeno was seven years old to begin a new life in America. Those early experiences shaped the strength, gratitude, and determination that would define him throughout his life.
Jeno was the beloved son of the late Jeno and Lujza Czabafy. He was a cherished brother to Peter Czabafy and his deceased sisters, Heidi and Eva.
He was the devoted husband of Pamela Czabafy and the loving father of Lauren and Doug Arms, Jeno and Birgit Czabafy, Samantha Czabafy and Levy Sinyor, Jessica and Jeremy Klempner, & Victoria Czabafy and Adam Schayek. He was a proud and loving grandpa to Jonathan Arms, Ryan Arms, Haley Czabafy, Ayva Sinyor, Noah Sinyor, Sophia Sinyor, Juliana Klempner, and Jacob Klempner. Nothing brought him greater joy than spending time with his family, whose accomplishments and happiness were his greatest source of pride. He also leaves behind his mother-in-law, Ronnie Engel and was predeceased by his father-in-law, Arthur Engel.
Jeno earned his bachelor's degree from Bloomfield College, served honorably in the United States Army, and built a successful career with Procter & Gamble before helping to run the family business, Art's Windows. He also generously volunteered in his children's schools and was always willing to lend a helping hand wherever it was needed.
To know Jeno was to know someone who seemed capable of anything. He was incredibly creative, had an exceptional eye for design and detail, and could fix, build, improve, or create just about anything he set his mind to. Family and friends relied on him for advice on everything from cooking and home projects to decorating, travel, and life's biggest decisions. He was the person everyone called when they needed guidance because he always knew what to say.
Jeno was known for his kindness, patience, and sense of humor. He listened without judgment, rarely became upset, and approached challenges with a calm and steady perspective. He took life as it came and never allowed difficulties to define him.
His passions were many. He loved cooking and was famous for the incredible meals he prepared for family and friends. He loved traveling and exploring new places, especially museums and historic sites. He found peace in nature, appreciated beauty in all forms, and had a remarkable ability to see potential where others could not. He enjoyed the thrill of gambling, loved all things Disney, and never stopped learning or creating. Yet among all of his interests and accomplishments, nothing mattered more to him than his family.
One of Jeno's favorite expressions was, "Don't tell me, show me." It reflected the way he lived his life—with action, integrity, and a belief that what we do matters more than what we say.
His family will miss his wisdom, his guidance, his laughter, and his unwavering support. They will miss the phone calls for advice, the meals shared around the table, the projects completed together, and the comfort of knowing that no matter the problem, Jeno would have an answer. Most of all, they will miss the extraordinary love he gave so freely and the steady presence that anchored so many lives.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jeno's memory to Gumbo Limbo Nature Center in Boca Raton, Florida, or toward cardiac amyloidosis research through Hackensack Meridian Health.
Jeno leaves behind a legacy of strength, creativity, generosity, and unconditional love. Though he will be deeply missed, the lessons he taught, the memories he created, and the love he shared will live on in all who knew him.
