Obituary of Kathryn Carol Davie

Kathryn Carol Davie, 82, of Forked River passed away peacefully on June 28, 2026 at Bartley Healthcare & Rehabilitation, Jackson, New Jersey.

Carol was born in Brooklyn, raised in Long Island and relocated to Queens, NY, after having met and married the love of her life, a somewhat shy engineering student, George William Davie.  The two would remain absolutely inseparable for an incredible sixty years and have three children, eight grandchildren and, as of this writing, two great-grandchildren - all of whom they cherished.  While some would consider Carol and George to have been polar opposites, they bonded over love of family and friends and, during the early years of their marriage, travel and adventure.

After they were married, Carol and George took up residences in Lake Hiawatha, NJ, Limerick Ireland, Chicago, and Mexico City, before returning to the town they always considered to be their true home, Howell, NJ.  They lived in Howell, content to raise their children amongst well-loved family and friends, for over fifty years.

Carol attended Catholic school as a girl and was a parishioner of the Church of St. Veronica in Howell.  She worked as a very proud registered nurse for over thirty years - first in hospital emergency rooms in NY and, after having moved to New Jersey, as an office nurse.  In earlier days, Carol also co-founded a small, but successful, business with lifelong friends.

Carol was predeceased by her husband, George in 2025; her eldest sister, Joyce Strickland and Joyce’s husband, George; and her brother-in-law, Joe McHugh. 

She is survived by her sons, George Davie and his wife, Loretta, Douglas Davie and his wife, Jill; daughter, Kate Fevola and her husband, Michael; her grandchildren, Collin and his wife, Madison, Noah and his wife, Marnie; Charlotte, Abigail and Madelyn; Michael, Delia and George; great grandchildren, Marshall and Percy; and her younger and much loved sister, Ellyn McHugh and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Ultimately, Carol could not go on without her husband and soulmate - a story that is eternal.  It has been a life very well-lived and her children are beyond proud of who their parents were and the enduring love of family and friends they have instilled in each of us.

Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Monday, July 6, 2026 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM.  Relatives and friends are invited to attend her 11:00 AM funeral service at the funeral home on Tuesday, July 7, 2026. Interment will follow in St. Mary of the Lake Cemetery, 1 Honey Locust Road, Lakewood.  For those who desire, memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer ’ s Association , 225 N.
