Alfred H. "Al" Hickey, 78, of Howell Township, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. He was born in Albany, NY, and had lived in Nutley, Kearny, and Belleville before settling in Howell in 1987. Al proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1966 to 1969 during the Vietnam War. Al was an avid reader who enjoyed keeping his mind sharp with chess, crossword puzzles, Sudoku, and other brain teasers. A devoted New York sports fan, he faithfully cheered for the Yankees, Giants, and Knicks throughout his life. Whether he was immersed in a good book, solving a challenging puzzle, or watching one of his favorite teams, Al found joy in the simple pleasures that reflected his thoughtful and curious nature.
