Obituary of Marilyn Patricia Tabert

Marilyn Patricia Tabert, 69, of Port Richey, Florida, passed away peacefully at Bayonet Point Hospital in Hudson, Florida, on July 6, 2026.

Marilyn grew up in North Bellmore, Long Island, New York. She moved to Kissimmee, Florida, before returning north to Eatontown, New Jersey, to be near her sister and family. Marilyn then moved south again to Virginia Beach, Virginia, and eventually settled in Port Richey, Florida.

She spent the early years of her career as a bookkeeper in the automotive industry at a Lexus dealership on Long Island. Marilyn later shifted careers, bringing her warm, energetic spirit to the food service industry, where she worked as a waitress in both New Jersey and Florida.

With a deep love for her communities, Marilyn was a member of the First Baptist Church of Freehold, New Jersey, and the American Legion Paradise Post 79 in New Port Richey, Florida.

Marilyn lived by the belief that it is always better to give than to receive, finding her greatest joy in helping others. She was the life of the party whenever she walked into a room—lively, boisterous, in charge, and a friend to all. She loved spending time with family and friends, enjoying the warm weather, and being by the water. Her proudest title was "Guma," given to her by her grandchildren, who were the absolute center of her universe.

Marilyn was predeceased by her parents, Violet and Leonard Mohusky, and her truly loyal friend, Teresa O'Hara. She is survived by her partner, Frank Hippe; her stepson, Richard Zane Haggarty; her grandchildren, Seth and Serenity, and their parents, Brittany and Justin Thompson; her sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Dennis Clayton; her nephews, Steven and Jeffrey Clayton; and many dear family members and friends.

Family and friends are invited to attend her Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 20, 2026, at the First Baptist Church of Freehold, 79 West Main Street, Freehold Borough. Interment will follow at Old Tennent Cemetery, 454 Tennent Road, Manalapan.
