Obituary of Carl J. Gallina

Carl J. Gallina, 82, of Monroe Township passed away on July 28, 2026, at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center with his three daughters by his side.  He was born in Irvington, raised in Nutley and had lived in Long Branch and Oceanport before settling in Howell in 1995.  Carl worked as an estimator for AB Kurre before retiring in March of this year. He was a lifetime member of Port-Au-Peck Chemical Hose Company and had served as chief in 1980.  Carl had also served as a councilman in Oceanport from 1983 to 1985. A true WWE fan, he listened to his last match while he was passing away.  Carl was also an avid reader whose favorite author was David Baldacci. He enjoyed his Saturday breakfasts and Sunday family dinners. Carl could always be found watching NASCAR and cheering on the Kansas City Chiefs.

He was predeceased by his wife, Jacqueline Gallina; and his parents, Carlo and Josephine Gallina. Carl is survived by his three daughters, Kathy Swiger and her husband, George of Brick, Sue Gallina Engstrom and her husband, Brian of Spotswood and Cara Wattley of Cream Ridge.  He is also survived by his favorite people who called him Grampy - Matthew and his wife, Kaitlyn, Carleigh and her husband, Lee, Jake and his fiancĂ©, Jill, Kyle, Julieann, Liam, Ryan, Luke, Charlotte and one on the way.

Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Friday, July 31, 2026, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM.  Interment is private. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Special Olympics New Jersey, One Eunice Kennedy Shriver Way, Lawrenceville, NJ 08648.
