Chuck Hartobey

Obituary of Chuck Hartobey

Charles “Chuck” Hartobey, III, 51, of Howell passed away on July 31, 2026, at his residence. Chuck was born in Plainfield and was raised in South Plainfield and had lived in Edison and Jackson before settling in Howell in 2000. Chuck was a true handyman and a jack of all trades who could fix absolutely anything. He was his wife’s biggest cheerleader and greatest protector, known for giving her the best gifts and, most importantly, unconditional love. Chuck’s generosity knew no bounds, especially when it came to his nieces and nephews. An avid sports fan, he loved rooting for the Jets, Mets, Penguins, and any team that could beat the Giants, and he recently took great enjoyment in watching the World Cup. Chuck also never lost a game of trivia, loved riding his Harley, and will always be remembered as the ultimate jokester.

He was predeceased by his grandparents, James and Veronica Green; stepfather, Jeff Barnosky and stepfather in-law, Francis Paul Scaduto. Chuck is survived by his wife, Joanne Hartobey of Howell; mother, Patricia Barnosky of Howell; brothers, Daniel Hartobey and his wife, Jennifer of West Virgina; Kevin Hartobey of Florida and Patrick Hartobey of Washington, DC; mother in-law, Joan Scaduto of Monroe; father in-law, Richard Hill and his wife, Mary Beth Weiciak of Spotswood; brother in-law, Ryan Hill and his wife, Wendy of East Brunswick; sister in-law, Robyn Wisnewski of Howell; nieces and nephews, Ryley, Kaii, Sophia, Caroline, Aaron, Lillian and his three pugs, Bebe, Ivy and Shamrock; many aunts, uncles and extended family members and friends.
