Obituary of Dorothy Friscia
DOROTHY J. FRISCIA, 81, of Nokomis, Fla., also of FREEHOLD, died Thursday, Jan. 31, at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, New York. Mrs. Friscia was born in Manhattan, N.Y., and was raised in Flushing, Queens, and had lived in Mahopac before moving to Surreydowns, Freehold and wintering in Venice, Fla., and settling in Nokomis, Fla., in 1999. Mrs. Friscia was a homemaker. She was an avid golfer, a world traveler and loved to fish.
She was predeceased by her sister, Pamala O'Bryne. Surviving are her husband of 56 years, Howard J. Friscia of Nokomis, Fla.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Howard and Karen Friscia of Pittsburgh, Pa., and Gerard and Kathleen Friscia, Sr. of Rye, N.Y.; one daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Gregory Gibson of Freehold Township; eight grandchildren, Stacey Mefford and her husband Matt, Lisa Richmond and her husband Daniel, Katie Friscia, Lauren Friscia, Gerard Friscia Jr., Gregory Gibson and his wife Dawn, Jeffrey Gibson, and Katherine Gibson; two brothers, Robert Mongelli of Queens, N.Y., and Joseph Mongelli of Delaware; and one sister, Florence Germano of East Hampton, N.Y.
Visitation is from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township. Family and friends may gather at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday for the Rite of Committal followed by her 9:30 a.m. Funeral Mass at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Chapel, West Main Street, Farmingdale. Interment will be in St. John's Catholic Cemetery, Middle Village, Queens.
