Obituary of Joseph Gentile

Joseph Marino Gentile, 78, of Jackson, NJ passed away on Monday, December 21, 2015 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Joseph was born, raised and lived his entire life in Brooklyn before moving to Jackson in 2009. He was a United States Marine Corps veteran. Joseph retired as an officer in the New York City Police Department. Prior to that he worked as a patrolman in Brooklyn. After retirement Joseph worked for Effective Security Services and was the co-owner of Primary Marketing LTD, with his wife Rose. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Joseph was predeceased by his first wife, Rose Mary Gentile; two brothers, Lorenzo Gentile and Anthony Gentile; a sister, Santina Gentile; and a sister-in-law, Mary Gentile. He is survived by his wife, Svetlana Gentile of Jackson; three sons, Frank J. Gentile and his wife, Elizabeth of Campbell, CA, Thomas A. Gentile and his wife, Hilary of Berkeley Heights and Joseph J. Gentile and his wife, Jennifer of Bloomfield, NY; six grandchildren, Vincent J. Gentile, Rosemary Gentile, Gregory Joseph Richard Gentile, Vittoria Valjean Rose Gentile, Alexa Rose Gentile and Christopher Joseph Gentile; a stepdaughter, Eugenia Shraga and her husband, Alex of Brooklyn; two twin step-grandchildren, Emily Rose Shraga and Ethan Gabriel Shraga; two brothers, Joseph L. Gentile of New Milford and Vito Gentile and his wife, Mary of Port St. Lucy, FL; a brother-in-law, Joseph F. Gentile of Toms River; and countless nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Saturday, December 26, 2015 and Sunday, December 27, 2015 from 4:00 to 9:00 PM. Relatives and friends may gather at the funeral home on Monday, December 28, 2015 at 8:30 AM for the procession to St. Athanasius Church, 2154 61st Street, Brooklyn for his 10:30 AM Funeral Mass.
