Obituary of Gordon McKeown

Gordon L. McKeown, 77, of Clarksburg, passed away Monday, February 2, 2016 at the Rehab Center at Wedgwood Gardens in Freehold Township. He was born in Lake City, MI before settling in Clarksburg. Gordon served honorably in the United States Army from 1965 to 1968. In his professional career, he owned and operated Homestead Acres and worked as an electrical/mechanical engineer. He had diverse hobbies, such as tending to his well-known vegetable garden, rabbit and chicken breeding, fishing with his custom hand-tied fishing flies, and collecting various tools and antiques. Gordon worked with his hands at a high level with exemplary carpentry skills. He was kind, supportive, in touch with the earth, and a true Renaissance man. Gordon was predeceased by his wife of 47 years, Patricia McKeown in 2010. He is survived by his sister, Paulette Purkey and her husband, Booth, of MI; his sister-in-law, Rosemarie Schwindinger, of Roosevelt; his brother-in-law, Frank Schwindinger, of Roosevelt; two nephews, William Schwindinger, and his wife, Kathleen, of Lewisburg, PA, Timothy Schwindinger, and his wife Kathleen Mullen, of Brick; a niece, Nancy Sears, and her husband, Mark Twitty, of Roosevelt; three great nieces, Christina Schwindinger, Julie Seavers and her husband, Kevin, and Patricia Schwindinger; and two great nephews, Kenneth Sears and Daniel Schwindinger. All services were private and under the direction of the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, Freehold Township.
