Obituary of Joseph Diovisalvi

Joseph A. Diovisalvi, 80, of Howell passed away on Tuesday, February 2, 2016 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Joseph was born and raised in The Bronx, later moving to Manalapan, and then the Oakwood section of Staten Island. He moved to The Villages, Howell in 2003. Joseph received his Bachelor's degree from John Jay College, New York City. He was a U.S. Army veteran and retired after 20 years of service in the U.S. Air Force Reserves, where he was called to active duty during Desert Storm. Joseph retired as a police officer for the NYPD where he worked in all 5 boroughs. In retirement, he worked for private security in the Diamond Exchange and the Army Corps of Engineers. Joseph was an active parishioner at the Church of St. Veronica and a former parishioner of St. Charles Catholic Church in Oakwood. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, enjoyed traveling and was a devoted Yankee fan. Joseph was predeceased by a sister, Margaret Capazzoli. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Theresa M. Diovisalvi of Howell; his children, , Dina Marie Stacy of Palm Beach Gardens, FL., Joseph Diovisalvi, Jr. and his wife, Dr. Cindy Diovisalvi of Juno Beach, FL., Francis Diovisalvi and his wife, Tracey of Highlands, Edward Delaney and his wife, Carolee of Brick, and Joseph Delaney and his wife, Cindy of Howell; ten grandchildren, Samantha Delaney, Joseph Delaney, Jr., Emmalee Delaney, Ella Delaney, Jennifer Stacy, Heather Stacy, Hannah Rogers, Harper Diovisalvi, Brittany Diovisalvi and Holly Diovisalvi; a great granddaughter, Emma Nicole; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Thursday, February 4, 2016 from 7:00 to 9:00 PM and Friday, February 5, 2016 from 2:00 to 4:00 & 7:00 to 9:00 PM. Relatives and friends may gather at the funeral home on Saturday, February 6, 2016 at 9:30 AM for the procession to the Church of St. Veronica, 4215 Route 9 North, Howell Township for his 10:30 AM Funeral Mass. Interment will follow in Moravian Cemetery, Staten Island.
