Obituary of Richard Levesque

Richard E. Levesque, 87, of Freehold Township, passed away on Saturday, February 27, 2016. He was raised in Summit before moving in 1966 to the house that would become their home in Freehold with his wife and daughters. Richard served in the United States Army Infantry and was awarded a Purple Heart for injuries sustained during the Korean War. He enjoyed ballroom dancing, Big Band music, and his weekends at the Golden Inn in Avalon. Richard was a competitive artistic roller skater. It was at the Morris and Essex Roller Rink, where he met the young girl that would become his skating partner and, not much later, his wife. Together they competed, winning the 1971 Dance Championship, earning their place in the Guinness Book of World Records. Richard was a Giants fan, self-healer, and survivor. His perseverance and determination allowed him to be a jack-of-all-trades and a master of all. Richard is survived by his wife of 65 years, Marion Levesque; three daughters, Lynda Egler and her husband, Ray of Freehold Township, Michelle Wollner and her husband, Ron of Tinton Falls, MaryAnne Black and her husband, Thomas of Canton, GA; and five grandchildren, Amanda Black, Richard Wollner, Kevin Egler, Julia Black, and Thomas Black, Jr and one sister Lucille Trengrove of Pompano, Florida. Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Friday, March 4, 2016 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM. Relatives and friends may gather at the funeral home on Saturday, March 5, 2016 at 11:30 AM for the procession to St. Rose of Lima Catholic Chapel, 16 McLean Street, Freehold for his 12:30 PM Funeral Mass. Entombment will follow in St. Gabriel's Cemetery and Chapel Mausoleum, 549 County Road (Route 520), Marlboro Township.
