Obituary of Maetro J. Catley

Our beloved mother, sister, wife and provider, Maetro J. Catley has gone home to be with the Lord on January 28, 2024. Maetro was born March 12, 1935 in Southern Pines, NC to the late Joe Davis and Viola Poole. Maetro is preceded in death by her sisters, Margaret Johnson-Lucas, Mattie Bell Johnson-McAdams and husband, Cornell C. Catley Sr.

Maetro met the love of her life, Cornell in Newark, NJ where they married on November 1, 1953 and would spend close to 67 amazing years happily married to one another. Maetro was foremost a woman of God and a woman of principle and integrity, who valued hard work and honesty. She worked at Anchor Glass Corp. for many years.  Our mother had a kind and loving spirit and was always willing to open her home to those in need.

She enjoyed dining out, but was an extraordinary cook. She also loved to plan outings and proudly ran excursions to Niagara Falls and Canada under MJC Bus Tours. Her favorite activity was fellowshipping with her family.

Maetro leaves behind, to celebrate her life, 8 Children: Viola (Cliff) Jackson, Fairton, NJ, Beverly Catley, Tinton Falls, NJ, Tina Boyd, Neptune, NJ, Cornell C. Catley, Jr., Philadelphia, PA, Yvonne Catley, Freehold, NJ, Gail Catley, New Castle, DE, Michael Catley, Philadelphia, PA, Paul Catley, Freehold, NJ and her sister, Ethel Johnson-Cassady, 12 Grandchildren; Tiffany Catley, Veronica Jackson, Khadijah Catley, Alyssa Catley, Elizabeth Galloway, Barry Hatcher (BK), Paul J. Catley (PJ), Shaun Crank, Darnell Johnson, Maurice Catley, Brandon Catley and Clifford Jackson III, numerous Great Grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
