Obituary of Marlene Marino

Marlene Marino, 78, of Freehold Township passed away at home on Saturday, March 23, 2024.  She was born, raised and had lived in Brooklyn, NY before settling here in 2013.   As a young girl, Marlene enjoyed con-fraternity dances and frequented Latin dance clubs where she met the man she would fall in love with and marry.  Marlene was a parishioner of Basilica of Regina Pacis in Brooklyn and St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Freehold.

As a young mother she was a member and the treasurer of the Mother’s Club at Regina Pacis.   Marlene was a crafter and a great cook, as well as a flower lover and gardener.  She took great pleasure in traveling with her family, especially to Aruba and Disney.  Marlene had an appreciation for music, her favorite being Frankie Valli, and taking her daughter to New Kids on the Block concerts.  She also worked tirelessly at her family business, Towne House Caterers of Brooklyn, NY and South Gate Manor of Freehold Township.  Marlene was a friend to all who met her and a second mother to her children’s friends.  Her most treasured role was as a loving nana and the biggest supporter of her grandchildren.

Marlene was predeceased by her infant son, Anthony Marino.  She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Lorenzo Marino; children, Christopher Marino and his wife, Staci, her twins, Brian Marino and his wife, Nicole and Stephanie Marino, and Matthew Marino, all of Freehold Township; four grandchildren, Lindsay, Antonio, and twins, Luke and Christopher; and sister-in-law, Loretta Passamonte.

Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Monday, March 25, 2024 from 2:00 to 8:00 PM.  Relatives and friends are invited to gather at 8:30 AM on Tuesday, March 26, 2024 at the funeral home for the procession to her 9:30 AM Funeral Mass at the Co-Cathedral of St. Robert Bellarmine, 61 Georgia Road, Freehold Township.
