Narayana Pirlamarla

Obituary of Narayana Pirlamarla

Narayana Pirlamarla, 75, of Freehold, NJ passed away at home on April 2, 2024. He was born in Ismailkhanpet, Telangana, India and emigrated to the United States in 1973. Narayana lived throughout the five boroughs of New York City before settling in Freehold, NJ in 1986 with his wife, Dr. Jothi Pirlamarla. He worked as an accountant for over 25 years for the Office of the Inspector General for the State of New York until his retirement.

Anyone who knew Narayana knew him as a generous, loving, and sharp-dressed, social man who was unafraid to show his affection through hugs and kind gestures; he was always willing and able to help his family and friends when needed.

His greatest achievement was his family, and they brought him immense joy – he was the quintessential family man and he treasured his roles as husband, father, brother, uncle, and grandfather or “Thatha”.

Narayana was passionate about building the Indian and Telegu communities. He was a founding member of the American Telegu Association.  He was one of their first members of the Board of Trustees and also served a term as Treasurer.  Narayana loved to travel; he delighted in the beauty of nature and loved visiting the beach and the mountains.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Dr. Jothi Pirlamarla; brothers, Vittal Pirlamarla and Ram Gupta; and a sister, Pushpa Vemula. Narayana is survived by his daughters, Dr. Preethi Pirlamarla and Bindu Pirlamarla and her husband, Daniel York; grandchildren, Kavi and Kiran; and brothers, Shekar Pirlamarla and Krishna Pirlamarla.
