Obituary of Philip E. Hatt, Jr.

Philip E. Hatt, Jr., 84, of Freehold Township passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, April 6, 2024.  He was born and raised in Machias, ME and had lived in Trenton, Howell and Lakewood, NJ before settling here in 2010. 

 

Philip honorably served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.  Following his military service, he embarked on a fulfilling career path, working at Two Guys in East Brunswick, and Rickels and Drug Fair in Freehold.  In retirement, Philip was a familiar face to all those that shopped at Home Depot in Howell. 

 

Beyond his professional achievements, Philip was a member of the American Legion Post 166 and the Elks Lodge #1432 both in Lakewood. He was an active member of Silvermead’s Community Board where he enjoyed time with his neighbors and could be found calling Bingo, being competitive in bocce, shooting pool and playing shuffleboard.  

 

Philip was a NY Yankees and NY Giants fan always cheering them on.  He also enjoyed playing poker and making memories with his wife on their trips to Atlantic City.

 

Philip was predeceased by his son, Christopher Hatt.  He is survived by his adoring wife, Antoinette Hatt; son, Ralph Hatt; stepchildren, Wanda Ruggiero and her husband, Richard, Donna Vetri and Regina Paolella and her husband, Edward; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; and sisters, Erlene Wiley, Gail Kilton and Brenda Deschene and her companion, Harold Chandler.

 

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his committal service at the Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle NJ Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, 350 Provinceline Road, Arneytown, NJ precisely at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, April 30, 2024.  A memorial luncheon will follow.  Arrangements by Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, Freehold Township.  For information, directions or to leave condolence messages for the family, visit www.claytonfuneralhome.com
