Condolences
Donna
I am deeply saddened by the news of Herb's passing. You have my sincere condolences.
I first met Herb almost 40 years ago when he applied for a position in Howell. One of the best decisions I ever made during my professional career was to hire this "30 something" to be Assistant Superintendent of Schools for Business. The school & community got so much more than a numbers guy. His knowledge and excellent reputation went well beyond the school district and into all phases of the community. He brought people together and his positive, informed & understanding influence was felt by everyone fortunate enough to know him.
I will always have fond memories of Herb. His quick smile and sound judgement helped us through even the most challenging times. I am praying for peace for you and your family.

Donna and Family
My sincere condolences. I will miss my gym buddy and seeing the familiar sight of Herb walking Macy down 5 points road. Herb always had a smile and story to share. I will truly miss our conversations regarding the state of Education. I will be out of the country and unable to attend the services, however you will be in my prayers. Stay strong and allow your memories to provide some comfort in this sorrowful time.

My deepest sympathy to Herbs family. I was so fortunate to meet Herb, as a fellow BA back in the early 80's. Not only was he a great colleague but I loved his wit and humor. I always knew when I was going to meet him for lunch or a cup of coffee I would be entertained by his humor. He will be missed.
Donna, so sorry for your loss. While I never met Herbert, he sounds wonderful and caring. He has received the gift we all seek one day, eternal life. Smile and feel the love and joy of being loved by a man who lived such a good life and left all around him better for knowing and loving him.

My condolences to Donna, Julie Ann and family. He was a very special man, a man who would always have your back, a caring, compassionate, human being that once a friend would be your friend forever. He will be missed and was taken from us too soon. Rest In Peace Herb.

I worked as a teacher in West Long Branch, Herb was kindest, compassionate, and fair administrator. My husband was about to have surgery for cancer and I went to Herb to let him know I would be out for 2 weeks. He gave me a lot of advice and a hug. He made sure my sick days were used appropriately as well. Many of us in West Long Branch spoke of him recently with admiration and respect. His life left an impact on so many of us. Thank you Herb..
I was fortunate to know Herb when he became Interim Superintendent in West Long Branch. He was a pleasure to work for and with. A man who encouraged staff to participate in meetings and listened to what was said. I enjoyed working with him. He knew how to delegate and get results. A true people person. I am saddened by his passing, he was one of the few that I truly enjoyed working for. The man had a heart!
He hired me in 1987 and infused in me a love of the Business Office operations. His and Donna’s wedding was the most fun I ever had at a wedding. He is my hero, mentor, and I am devastated. I can’t even imagine how the rest of the family gets through this. I enjoyed the years I worked for him and will cherish his memory forever. Dora Zeno (Mylchreest)
