Obituary of Anthony D'Ambrosio
Anthony J. D’Ambrosio, 92, of Freehold passed away on Sunday, March 29, 2020 at CentraState Medical Center. He was born in New York City, and raised in the Bronx. Tony lived in Levittown, NY and Bethpage, NY, before settling in Freehold in 1973. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. Along with his brother Louis, Tony owned and operated D’Ambrosio Associates Inc., Manasquan, a McDonald’s Franchise, retiring in 1997. He enjoyed doing puzzles and was passionate about gardening. Tony was truly a Jack of all Trades. He was a devoted Catholic and was a parishioner of the Co-Cathedral of St. Robert Bellarmine.
He was predeceased by his brothers, James, Louis, and John D’Ambrosio. Tony is survived by his beloved wife of 70 years, Anna Marie D’Ambrosio; three sons, Joseph D’Ambrosio and his wife, Elizabeth of Freehold Township, Darryl D’Ambrosio and his wife, Kimberly of Howell, and Anthony D’Ambrosio Jr. and his wife, Lori of Wake Forest, NC; seven grandchildren, Christopher D’Ambrosio and his wife, Alline, Marissa D’Ambrosio, Anthony D’Ambrosio, Brandon D’Ambrosio, Angelica D’Ambrosio, Michael D’Ambrosio, and Anthony D’Ambrosio; a brother, Neil D’Ambrosio of the Bronx; and many nieces and nephews.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions, private services are being held on Friday, April 3, 2020 at the Clayton and McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road, Freehold Township from 11:15 to 11:30 AM with his funeral service to follow at 11:30 AM. Relatives and friends are invited to participate via Webcast through our website. Entombment will follow in St. Rose of Lima Catholic Cemetery, Freehold Township. A public memorial gathering and Funeral Mass to honor Anthony’s memory will be held at a later date. For those who desire, memorial contributions may be made in Tony’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis TN 38105.
