Obituary of George E. Gordon, III
George E. Gordon, III, 68, passed away at home on Friday, September 25, 2020. A lifelong resident of Jackson, he worked for Pomponio Trucking and Shore Point Distributors prior to his employment as a machine operator for Bil-Jim Construction, Jackson. A true outdoorsmen, he loved fishing, and was a member of the Moose Lodge and Poppe “The Gang” Hunting Club, both in Jackson. George also was a car and truck enthusiast and enjoyed watching westerns.
He was predeceased by his parents, George Gordon, Jr. and Mary Jane Gordon; and two brothers, Carl J. Gordon and Frank Gordon. George is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Linda Gordon of Jackson; daughter, Cindy Moriarity and her husband, James of Bayville; son, Clinton Gordon of Jackson; granddaughter, Ellis; and nephew, Christopher Torre of Barnegat.
Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Wednesday, September 30, 2020 from 4:00 to 6:00 PM with his funeral service to follow. For the safety of the public and our staff, we are asking everyone to help us adhere to the CDC guidelines. Facemasks will be required. Inurnment will take place at a later date in Adelphia Cemetery, Howell.
