Obituary of Norma A. Christie
Norma A. Christie, 94, of Freehold Township passed away on Saturday, October 3, 2020 at The Manor Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born in Haverhill, Massachusetts, raised in Newport, Rhode Island and during her marriage to a career Army Veteran lived in Germany and England before returning to the United States. Norma was the owner of Pine Valley Farm located in Pembroke, Massachusetts. It was here that her love and companionship for horse training grew. This bond would stay with her and become one of her life’s joys, especially teaching children horsemanship and sharing in their accomplishments. Norma shared this passion with all who knew her long after her retirement. During her retirement years in Venice, Florida Norma enjoyed playing tournament croquet and was a member of the Waterford Croquet Club.
She was predeceased by her husband, Andrew F. Christie and sons, Andrew F. Christie, Jr. and William S. Christie. Norma is survived by her daughter, Carole Young and her husband, David of North Carolina; and sons, Michael Christie and his wife, Katherine of Massachusetts; Arthur Christie and his wife, Memie of Pennsylvania; and James Christie and his wife, Nancy of Farmingdale, New Jersey. She leaves behind 16 loving grandchildren; many great grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren. Norma is also survived by her sisters, Deborah Lee of California, Jacquelyn Jones and Jean Grenier of Florida, and Joan Janior of Rhode Island. Affectionately known to her grandchildren as Grandma, Norma created memories that will last a lifetime and a bond that can never be broken. She will truly be missed by all that knew her.
