Obituary of Antonio Lombardi
Antonio Lombardi, 86, of Jackson passed away on Wednesday, February 10, 2021 at home. He was born and raised in Boiano Campobasso, Italy and came to the United States in 1958. Antonio had lived in Bloomfield for many years before settling in Jackson. He worked as a Longshoreman for 18 years out of Port Newark before retiring and was a member of the International Longshoreman Association. He was a parishioner of the Co-Cathedral of St. Robert Bellarmine and formerly of Sacred Heart Church in Bloomfield. Antonio enjoyed making home-made wine, cooking many Italian dishes, and playing Bocci. He had a green thumb, and loved tending to his enormous home-grown garden, filled with all kinds of vegetables. Antonio was known for his big heart. He was passionate about spending quality time with his family and grandchildren, especially for their traditional Sunday dinners and holidays.
He was predeceased by his sister, Marie Wade. Antonio is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Vittoria Lombardi; children, Carmine Lombardi of Nutley, Josephine Raess and her husband, Charlie of Jackson, Patricia Dela Cruz and her husband, Joseph of Branchburg, and Janet Lombardi and her husband, Richard of Freehold; grandchildren, Joshua, Alexia, Chad, Jacob, and Gianna; and siblings, Nicola Lombardi, Libera Colalillo, and Dominick Lombardi.
Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Friday, February 12, 2021 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his 10:00 AM Funeral Mass on Saturday, February 13, 2021 at the Co-Cathedral of St. Robert Bellarmine, 61 Georgia Road, Freehold Township. Entombment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery & Mausoleum, North Arlington. For the safety of the public and our staff, we are asking everyone to help us adhere to the CDC guidelines.
