Obituary of John F. Palaski

John F. Palaski, 93, of Howell passed away on Wednesday, June 9, 2021 at the Center for Hope Hospice and Palliative Care, Scotch Plains Township. He was born in Port Washington, New York and had lived in Bayonne, New Jersey before settling to Howell in 1980. John worked as an owner of Fyreside Shoppe Distributors, Inc., in Piscataway. At the young age of 16, John joined the United States Merchant Marines and later served in the United States Army during World War II and was a guard at Nuremberg Trials in 1945. This led to his overwhelming patriotism that he carried throughout his life. John was a life member of the VFW in Howell post #9691, a member of the Society of the First Infantry Division, and a former member of the American Legion of Bayonne. He loved horse racing and owned his own racehorses, pacers, and trotters. John was a true outdoorsman, thoroughly enjoying gardening, boating, hunting, fishing, and farming in his tractors. He was known as Mr. Fix It and could often be found looking for something to fix or build.

He is survived by his son, Jeffrey Palaski and his wife, Denise of Bayonne; a daughter, Laurie Landmesser and her husband, David of Sayreville; a granddaughter, Darlene Palaski of Bayonne; and three great grandsons, Casey, Jared, and Drew.

Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Sunday, June 13, 2021 from 1:00 to 5:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his 11:30 AM Graveside service on Monday, June 14, 2021 at Ocean County Memorial Park, 1722 Silverton Road, Toms River.
