Obituary of Sarah R. "Sunny" Carroll

Sarah R. “Sunny” Carroll, 94, of Freehold passed away on Sunday, December 26, 2021 at Bartley Healthcare, Jackson.  She was born and raised in Manhattan, NY and had lived in Asbury Park and West Long Branch prior to settling in Freehold in 1995.  Sunny worked for the Monmouth County Park System retiring in 1994. After her retirement, she joined the Red Hat society, Freehold Senior Center, and was a devoted parishioner of the Co-Cathedral of St. Robert Bellarmine. Sunny was an avid reader, enjoyed crocheting, and puzzles. Her greatest pleasure in life was the joy her family brought to her.

Sunny was predeceased by her husband, Patrick J. Carroll. She is survived by her children, Patricia Tansey  and her husband, John of Howell, Lorri Layton and her husband, Joseph of Basking Ridge, Jeanne Honauer of Jackson, and Michael Carroll and his wife, Sheri of Old Bridge; nine grandchildren, Kelly Fiorella and her husband, Bryan, Chris Tansey and his wife, Rachel, Holly Pizzo and her husband, Rich, Scott Layton, Ryan Layton, David Henning and his wife, Marcia, Nicole Altenau and her husband, Marc, Hailey Carroll, and Max Carroll; and nine great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Sunday, January 2, 2022 from 2:00 to 5:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her 10:30 AM Funeral Mass on Monday, January 3, 2022 at the Co-Cathedral of St. Robert Bellarmine, 61 Georgia Road, Freehold Township.  Interment will follow in Mount Carmel Cemetery, West Long Branch.
