Obituary of Janet Shelton

Janet Shelton (nee Cottrell), 80, of Howell passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 23, 2022 at home. Janet was born and raised in Spotswood. She had lived in Freehold, Brick, Howell and Farmingdale before moving to the Villages, Howell in 2007. Janet knew it was better to give than receive, which led to her volunteering for the Joshua House, the Farmingdale Historical Society, the D.A.V. Auxiliary and the Farmingdale/Howell Lions Club. She had a passion for baking and mastered the art of cake making. Janet collected all types of angel figures and loved her parakeets.

Janet was predeceased by her parents, LeRoy and Martha Cottrell. She is survived by her husband of 20 years, Paul Shelton; two children, Lorayne Thum of Toms River and Eric Thum of Florida; four grandchildren, Kyle Viteo and his wife, Susan, Eric Viteo, Nicole Viteo, and Josef Viteo; a great granddaughter; two sisters, Lois Cremer of Georgia and Virginia Conklin of Howell; and many nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Monday, January 31, 2022 from 4:00 to 6:00 PM. Interment will be private.
