Obituary of Harriet O. Stanley

Harriet O. Stanley, 86, of Howell, passed away peacefully at home on March 13, 2023 after a long illness. She was born to the late Gertrude and Harry Olldorf, May 27, 1936, in Passaic, NJ. Harriet graduated from Clifton High School in 1953.  Outgoing and kind, she loved to sing. Harriet was chosen to participate in the New Jersey All-State Chorus while in high school.  She attended Katherine Gibbs School, Montclair, NJ, graduating with honors.  Meeting the love of her life, Bryant, at a class reunion, they were married in Clifton, NJ on October 19, 1957.  They bought a farm and moved to Howell Township, NJ with their young family in 1968. 

A life-long member of the New Apostolic Church, Harriet was dedicated to serving others. Over the years, she enjoyed being in the church choir, playing the organ, and teaching Sunday School.  Her career as a secretary spanned several decades.  In 1997, Harriet celebrated her retirement from the Township of Freehold, where she worked as executive assistant to the mayor and township administrator.

She is survived by her sweetheart, Bryant, her beloved husband of more than 65 years; her children, Kathleen Stanley and her husband, Roger Dufau, and John Stanley and his wife, Cynthia; her granddaughters, Madeline, Amelia and Alison, and her sister, Paula Martin.

A funeral service will be held at the New Apostolic Church, 5200 Megill Road, Wall Township on Saturday, March 18, 2023 at 5:00 PM.
