Obituary of Evgenia Ershova
Evgenia Ershova, 96, of Monroe Township passed away at CentraState Medical Center on Monday, August 12, 2024. She was born in Sevastopol Ukraine and had lived in Georgia and Odessa Ukraine before immigrating to the United States in 1988 at the age of 59. In her free time, Eugenia enjoyed playing the piano, singing, and cooking. Her perogies, Napoleon, and Smetannik Cake were beloved by all who had the pleasure of tasting them. Eugenia was a dedicated homemaker and caretaker for her family, always putting their needs above her own. During World War II, at the young age of 13, Eugenia took on the responsibility of caring for her infant brother, providing him with the nourishment and love he needed to survive. This selfless act was just one example of Eugenia's unwavering dedication to helping others. Throughout her life, Eugenia was known for her kind and encouraging spirit. She always encouraged others to open their hearts and minds, and her pleasant demeanor made her loved by all who knew her.
She is predeceased by her son, Sergey Ershov; grandson, Alex Furmansky; brother, Yuri Ershov and son in law, George Romanenko. Eugenia is survived by her daughter, Elena Romanenko of Monroe; grandson, Allen Romanenko and his partner, Savanah; great grandson, Sasha Romanenko.
A visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia (Route 524), Freehold Township, on Thursday, August 15, 2024 from 11:00 to 12:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her 12:30 PM graveside service at St. Vladmir’s Russian Orthodox Cemetery, 316 Cassville Road, Jackson.
