Obituary of Jeanne Going

Jeanne M. Going (nee Schaefer), 74, of Monmouth Beach passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 21, 2014 at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch. Jeanne was born in Teaneck, raised in Paramus, and had lived in Atlantic Highlands, Farmingdale, Toms River, and Monmouth Beach. She was a 1958 graduate of Hackensack High School. Jeanne worked for CECOM at Fort Monmouth until her retirement in 2002. She was a former parishioner of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, Farmingdale, a former member of the Women's Club of Little Silver and a member of the Red Hats Society of Toms River. She defied all odds raising her children as a single mother which can be seen through her grandchildren. Even though her grandkids think that she is a "lil cray cray", her children know it's because she has a master's degree in survival. Jeanne is survived by her children, Richard Going and his wife, Alicia of Highlands, Brad Going of Monmouth Beach, Dale Going-Lopez and her husband, Ivan Lopez of Toms River, and Todd Going and his wife, Jaclyn of Farmingdale; eight grandchildren, Meagan, Michael, Matthew, Amanda, Monique, Jacqueline, Tyler, and Ryan; a brother, Robert Schaefer of NJ; and Kathleen Schaefer of Harrington Park. A visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route #524), Freehold Township on Monday, August 25, 2014 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM. Relatives and friends may gather at the funeral home on Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at 8:00 AM for the procession to St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, North Main Street, Farmingdale for her 9:00 AM Funeral Mass.
