Obituary of Philomena Finn

Philomena A. Finn, 78, of Freehold Township passed on Monday, August 25, 2014 surrounded by her loved ones after a long battle with CBD, a rare neurological disease in the Parkinson's family. Philomena was born in Omeath, County Louth Ireland and moved to the United States in 1959. She lived in Jersey City and Queens before settling in Freehold Township in 1973. She was a member of the County Louth Society of New York and the St. Robert Bellarmine's choir. Philomena is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Kenneth M. Finn; two daughters, Roisin Burford and her husband, Jan, and Maureen Finn; two sons, Kevin Finn and his wife, Jeanne; and Kenny Finn and his wife, Karen; thirteen grandchildren, Erin, Lauren, Tommy, Kieran, Ryan, Patrick, Brian, Kathleen, Kenneth, Kyle, Kevin, Christopher and Connor; and her sister, Edna Hardy. She was never one to show anger, hate, or jealousy. She embraced life and aged gracefully even when her beloved Spring Lake boardwalk strolls or step-dancing at Edgar's were not in her power any longer. As her children became parents, her role as grandma became a beautiful step and a Godsend for those young parents. Philomena cherished those times and watched with pride as they grew, matured and excelled. She and her husband were the perfect role models in all things in life, but especially in their love, faith and dedication to each other. Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Friday, August 29, 2014 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. Relatives and friends may gather at the funeral home on Saturday, August 30, 2014 at 9:00 AM for the procession to St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church, 61 Georgia Road, Freehold Township for her 10:00 AM Funeral Mass. Interment will follow at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Cemetery, Freehold Township.
