Obituary of Eleanore Little

Eleanore Peters Little, 88, of Carrollton, VA passed away on Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at Maryview Medical Center, Portsmouth, VA. Eleanore was born in Jersey City, raised in Sussex County, and had lived in West Long Branch and Freehold before moving to Carrollton, VA in 2009. For twenty-nine years, Eleanore worked for the Middletown Board of Education. She was physical education teacher at the Thompson Middle School and retired in 1990 as an elementary school librarian. Eleanore was a former volunteer at the Senior Health Insurance Program and for the AARP Income Tax Services both in Shrewsbury. As a devout Catholic, she was a former parishioner of the St. James Catholic Church, Red Bank, St. Jerome's Catholic Church, West Long Branch, and St. Catherine of Siena, Farmingdale and currently attended the Church of the Good Shepherd. Eleanore was predeceased by her husband, Francis P. Little; a brother, Rodrick Peters; a sister Marjorie Sipp; and a son-in-law, Larry Taylor. She is survived by her children, Geoffrey Little of Houston, TX, Andrew Little and his wife, Donna of Spotsylvania, VA, Patricia Little Taylor of Carrollton, VA and Margaret Gruca and her husband, Jerry of Austin, TX; six grandchildren, Megan Hudson and her husband, Frank, Elizabeth Little, Sarah Bradley and her husband, Alex, Kevin Little, Luke Gruca, and Angelica Gruca. A visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route #524), Freehold Township on Sunday, September 7, 2014 from 1:00 to 5:00 PM. Relatives and friends may gather at the funeral home on Monday, September 8, 2014 at 8:45 AM for the procession to St. James Catholic Church, 94 Broad Street, Red Bank for her 10:00 AM Funeral Mass. Interment will follow in Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery, Red Bank.
