Obituary of Timothy Sullivan

TIMOTHY CHRISTOPHER SULLIVAN, 88, of HOWELL, died Sunday, June 1, at home. Mr. Sullivan was born, raised and had lived in Elizabeth and lived in Freehold before moving to Howell in 2004. Mr. Sullivan was a graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School, Elizabeth, Class of 1938. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during World War II with the 36th Infantry Division in Europe and the Pacific. Mr. Sullivan was a Purple Heart and Bronze Star recipient. He was also a member of the Disabled American Veterans. Mr. Sullivan was a lifelong parishioner of St. Genevieve's Roman Catholic Church, Elizabeth. He was a serviceman with PSE&G, Summit, for over 30 years, retiring in 1981. He was predeceased by his wife, Ethel E. Sullivan; his parents, Mary Agnes and Eugene Sullivan; two brothers, John A. and Eugene G. Sullivan; and two sisters, Helen Maurer and Marion McConnell. Surviving are his loving daughter, Maryellen "Maizie" Katona of Howell. He was a devoted "Poppi" to Christopher Thomas and Courtney Lynn. He was a dear baby brother to Geraldine A. Sullivan Wilson of Howell. He was an adoring uncle to many nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township. Relatives and friends may gather at 9 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home for the Rite of Committal followed by his 11 a.m. Funeral Mass at St. Genevieve's R.C. Church, 200 Monmouth Road, Elizabeth.
