Obituary of Florence Lombardi Joerss

Florence Lombardi Joerss passed away peacefully with her Family around her on Thursday, September 25, 2014 at Applewood Estates, Freehold. She was born in the beautiful town of Roseto Valfortore, Italy and moved to the US with her Parents and Brothers when she was a child. Florence was raised in New Jersey, in and around the Oranges and married Angelo Lombardi in the early 1940's. They moved to Fords, NJ in 1955 and raised their family of five children. Sadly, Angelo passed away in 1971. Florence was fortunate to meet and re-marry Frank Joerss of Fords, NJ. They resided in Fords before moving to Tuckerton, NJ. Frank died suddenly shortly after their move. Florence remained very active as a volunteer at St. Therese's Church and at the Seacrest Nursing Home. Florence lived in Tuckerton until 2005 when she moved to Applewood Estates in Freehold, NJ. She enjoyed many happy times at Applewood Estates. Florence was fortunate to live a long, healthy and happy life. She was an icon to her family, having out lived all Family members of her generation. Florence is survived by five children: Susan and her husband Robert, Steven, Thomas and his wife Gloria, Joanne and Catherine; her grandchildren, Cara and husband Shawn, Paul and wife Amanda, Thomas Lee, Therese, Kimberly, Brian and wife Jessica, Thomas and wife Christine, Brittany and spouse John, Victor and wife Juliet and Anjeclica; great grandchildren, Isabella, Ryan, Emma, Scotland, JonLuc, Hailey, Anabelle, Giovanni and Maya; Nieces, Nephews and Cousins of the Lombardi and Falcone families, and many close friends. A visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Sunday, September 28, 2014 from 2:00 to 6:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the funeral home on Monday, September 29, 2014 at 9:00 AM for the procession to St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church, 61 Georgia Road, Freehold for her 10:00 AM Funeral Mass. Cremation will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Florence may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 400 Morris Avenue, Suite 251, Denville, NJ 07834-1365.
