Obituary of William Hind

William Thomas "Bill" Hind, 77, of St. Petersburg, FL and Manchester, NJ passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township on Friday, October 3, 2014. Bill was born in Queens, NY and was raised in the Sheepshead Bay section of Brooklyn. He settled with his wife and family in the Annadale section of Staten Island before retiring and becoming a snowbird. Bill was a U.S. Navy Veteran serving on the submarine, the U.S.S. Tusk, during the cold war. He retired as a Custodian Engineer at New Dorp High School after 30 years in the New York City Public Schools. Bill was a Master Mason of the Phoenix Lodge #205, Sheepshead Bay. He cherished his time in Florida in the warm weather but his love was for his family. Bill was predeceased by his brother, Raymond Hind and a sister, Eleanor Dean. He is survived by his wife of thirty-six years, Margaret J. "Molly" Hind; his children, Raymond St. Claire of Hollywood, CA, David Hind of Baltimore, MD, William D. Hind of NY, NY, Kevin Zodl and his wife, Eileen of Fords, NJ, and Patricia DeFranco and her husband, Christopher of Manalapan, NJ; five grandchildren, Rebecca Myron, Jonathan Myron, Thomas Zodl, Nicholas DeFranco, and Danielle DeFranco. A gathering will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route #524), Freehold Township on Saturday, October 11, 2014 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM with his memorial service to follow at 4:00 PM.
