Obituary of Shirley Reed

Shirley A. Reed, 66, of Jackson Township, passed away on Thursday, October 2, 2014 at Kimball Medical Center, Lakewood. Shirley was born in Newark. She was raised in Howell Township and had lived there before moving to Jackson in 1980. Shirley retired from the Howell Township Walmart in 2013. Prior to that, she worked in the staffing office at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Shirley reveled in her time on the computer, especially with her friends from Farm Town. She enjoyed watching the NASCAR races and had a passion for everything, "Betty Boop", but her real love was for her family. Shirley was predeceased by her husband, Harry H. Reed, Jr.; four brothers, Bobby MacDougall, Eddie MacDougall, Billy MacDougall, and Gerald MacDougall; and a sister, Nancy Trotta. She is survived by three daughters, Patricia Lees-Beresford and her husband, Jon of Toms River, Sue Pica of Jackson, and Mary Vorrasi and her husband, William of Dover, Florida; eight grandchildren, Tim Lees and his wife, Amanda, Jessica Lees, Matthew Beresford, Jennifer Pica, Megan Pica, Joe Ptaszynski, Phillip Vorrasi, and Emily Vorrasi; three great grandchildren, Olivia Lees, Nicole Lees, and Luke Papcun; a sister, Mary Jane Welz of Jackson; and her faithful feline companion, Shadow. A visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Tuesday, October 7, 2014 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM with her funeral service to follow at 7:00 PM.
