Obituary of John Misson
JOHN "JAY" DOUGLAS MISSON JR., 45, of BRADLEY BEACH, died Monday, June 9, at home. Jay was born in Red Bank, raised in Rumson, and had lived in Santa Barbara and San Francisco, Calif. before moving to Bradley Beach. Jay was a graduate of Rumson-Fair Haven High School, Class of 1980. He attended Brookdale Community College and the University of California at Santa Barbara. He was an avid Yankees fan, loved growing his own vegetables and fishing, but most of all; he loved his wife, Kelly. He was the president of the Master Brewer's Association of the Greater NY/NJ area. Jay was the brew master for the Triumph Brewing Company, Princeton, New Hope and Philadelphia. He was the recipient of many Great American Beer Festivals Medals, Denver, Colo. Prior to that, he was a brew master for Gordon Biersch, San Francisco, and started brewing under the German Brew Master, Stefan Muhs in Vernon Valley.
He was predeceased by his father, John D. Misson, in 1993; and his brother, James Francis Misson, in 1999. Surviving are his loving wife, Kelly Cuscaden; his mother, Elizabeth Misson of Lakewood; a sister and brother-in-law, Mari and John McMahon of Red Bank; and three nephews and a niece, John, Peadar, Liam, and Mary Elizabeth McMahon.
Friends and relatives are invited to attend his memorial service at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. George's-by-the-River Episcopal Church, 7 Lincoln Ave., Rumson. Interment will be private.
