Obituary of Elizabeth Dietz

Elizabeth A. Dietz, 88, of Jackson passed away surrounded by her family on Thursday, October 16, 2014 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune. Betty was born, raised, and had lived in Jersey City before moving to Asbury Park in 1971. She had lived in Asbury Park before moving to Wanamassa and then settling in Jackson in 1998. Betty retired in 1993 as a clerk for the United States Postal Service in Eatontown. Prior to that, she worked in the Jersey City Main Post Office and was known as "Betty the cop" as a crossing guard for the Jersey City Police Department. Betty was also a former member of the Ocean Township Senior Citizens. She loved to crochet, needlepoint, and quilt. Betty enjoyed her crafts and crossword puzzles. Betty was predeceased by her husband, Robert in 1966; seven brothers; and two sisters. She is survived by her five children, Robert Dietz of Jackson, Arlene Dietz of Jackson, Patricia Aufiero and her husband, Joseph of Jackson, Sharon Patmore and her husband, David of Wall, and Thomas Dietz of Charlotte, NC; nine grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Sunday, October 19, 2014 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM with her funeral service to follow at 4:00 PM. Relatives and friends may gather at the funeral home on Monday, October 20, 2014 at 10:00 AM for the procession to Holy Name Cemetery, Jersey City for her interment.
