Obituary of Debasri Roy

Debasri "Debu" Roy, 26, of Philadelphia passed away suddenly on Friday, October 31, 2014. Debu was born in Virginia and was raised in Howell Township, New Jersey. He was a 2006 graduate of Freehold Township High School. In 2010, Debu graduated from Rutgers University, Summa Cum Laude and also received the SAS Excellence Award. He graduated from Drexel University College of Medicine in 2014 with high honors. While in medical school, he also was the co president of the Ping Pong Club and was a volunteer for their Humanitarian Service Organization. Debu was an avid snowboarder in the winter and had an enthusiasm for the game of basketball. He had a skill for Texas Hold'em but his love was for his fiancée and his family. Debu is survived by his fiancée, Ankita Mehta of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; his parents, Radhika and Jharna Roy of Howell Township, New Jersey; a sister, Elora Roy and her husband, Nick Sanchoo of Miami, Florida; a brother, AJ Roy of Baltimore, Maryland; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins; and dear friends. A visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Tuesday, November 4, 2014 from 7:00 to 9:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his 1:00 PM Funeral Service at the funeral home on Wednesday, November 5, 2014. Cremation will be private.
