Obituary of Joseph Cundari
Joseph F. Cundari, 91, of Spring Lake passed away surrounded by his family on Friday, November 28, 2014 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune. Joseph was born in Brooklyn and had lived on Staten Island and in Freehold Township before moving to Spring Lake. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps Veteran serving his country proudly during World War II in the European Theatre on a B17 Bomber as a tail gunner. Joseph was a truck driver for Thomas Paulson, Brooklyn before retiring. He had a passion for the game of baseball and was a Brooklyn Dodger and Mets Fan. Joseph enjoyed watching Jeopardy but his love was for his family.
Joseph was predeceased by a son, Frank Cundari; and three brothers, Francesco "Frank" Cundari, Salvatore Cundari and Michael Cundari. He is survived by his wife, Theresa Cundari of Spring Lake; two sons, Louis Cundari and his wife, Dawn of Belmar and John Cundari and his wife, Fran of Staten Island; a daughter-in-law, Carol Cundari of Staten Island; seven grandchildren, Richard Cundari and his wife, Mary, Janet Pascale and her husband, Peter, Christy Cundari, Liana Cundari, Joseph Cundari and his wife, Mary Ann, Theresa Cundari, and Diana Wallace and her husband, Gregory; five great grandchildren, Joey Alexa, John, Diana, Julianna, and Johnny; two brothers, Peter Cundari of Staten Island and Dominic Candelaro of Rockaway, NY; a sister, Frances Volino of Brooklyn; and many nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Monday, December 1, 2014 from 2:00 to 4:00 & 7:00 to 9:00 PM. Relatives and friends may gather at the funeral home on Tuesday, December 2, 2014 at 9:00 AM for the procession to St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church, 61 Georgia Road, Freehold Township for his 10:00 AM Funeral Mass.
