Obituary of Stephen Vishia
Stephen T. Vishia, 93, of Freehold Township, born in Thompson, CT and formerly of Bayonne, NJ passed away peacefully Friday, December 19, 2014 at Wedgwood Gardens Care Center. A graduate of Drake University in Jersey City, he served in the U. S. Army during World War II as a Master Sergeant in the European Theatre of Operations with the Office of the Chief Quarter Master, and served in the Battle of Northern France.
Stephen was employed as an Executive Sales Consultant for several plastic manufacturers servicing Fortune 500 companies in the NJ and NY metropolitan area before retiring in 1994.
Prior to sales, he was a jazz musician associated with Joe Marsella, Woody Herman and Les and Larry Elgart. After retirement, he was an avid golfer who dressed exactly like Payne Stewart. He played at the Monmouth County golf courses where he had many friends and associates. He was a member of both the Raintree and Willowbend Board of Trustees for 11 years, and the Raintree Golf Association treasurer for five years.
Surviving are his beloved wife of 31 years, a son, daughter and grandson.
Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Wednesday, December 24, 2014 from 10:00 to 11:00 AM with his 11:00 AM funeral service to follow.
