Obituary of Alex Kennett
John A. "Butch" Kennett, 67, of Freehold passed away on Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. John was born in Neptune and was a lifelong resident of Freehold. Butch was a vegetable farmer on local land. If Butch was not attending a Nascar race he would be found watching one on TV. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed deer hunting and fresh water fishing. Butch loved working on cars, he could often be seen driving his pride and joy a classic 1950 burgundy Plymouth from car show to car show. He was a member of the Old Glory Cruisers Car Club and a regular attendee of the Blue Moon Cruisers Car Shows.
Butch was predeceased by his first wife, Geraldine L. Yurkus. He is survived by two daughters, Christine Beauregard of New Jersey and Karen Shaw of Delaware; his former wife and caregivers, Helena A. Yaeger and her husband, Thomas of Freehold Township. Tom was instrumental in rehabbing Butch's home in Freehold Township. He is also survived by his two four legged friends, Petey and Scooby Doo.
The family would like to thank the Freehold First Aid Squad, MONOC, the VNA of Central NJ and Bayada Nursing Services. Butch was loved by all and he will be dearly missed by all that knew him.
Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Sunday, December 28, 2014 from 2:00 to 4:00 & 7:00 to 9:00 PM. Relatives and friends may attend his funeral service on Monday, December 29, 2014 at 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Interment will follow in St. Vladimir Cemetery, Jackson.
