Obituary of Dorothy Cox
Dorothy Betty Cox, 89, of Howell Township passed away on Friday, December 26, 2014 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune. Dorothy was born, raised and had lived in Jersey City before moving to Matawan and then Houston, TX. She returned to New Jersey in 1984, settling in Howell. Dorothy was a homemaker. She was also a parishioner of the Church of St. Veronica.
Dorothy was predeceased by her mother, Grace Wilton and a brother, Charles Wilton. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, George James Cox, Jr. of Howell; her four children, Karen Backman and her husband, John of New Hartford, NY, George J. Cox III and his wife, Ellen of Hillsborough, Robert Cox and his wife, Patricia of Delran and Marigrace Meyer and her husband, Jeffrey of Howell; eight grandchildren, John C. Backman II, Tara Nielsen and her husband, Keith, George J. Cox IV and his partner, Michele Terroni, Thomas R. Cox, Christopher R. Cox, Eileen Cox, Grace Meyer and Emily Meyer; and two great grandchildren, Caroline Nielsen and George J. Cox, V.
Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Tuesday, December 30, 2014 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. Relatives and friends may gather at the funeral home on Wednesday, December 31, 2014 at 8:00 AM for the procession to the Church of St. Veronica, 4215 Route 9 North, Howell Township for her 9:00 AM Funeral Mass. Interment will follow in Brig. Gen. Wm. C. Doyle NJ Veterans Cemetery, Arneytown. For those who desire, donations in memory of Dorothy may be made to Wounded Warriors Project, P.O.
