Obituary of Thomas Stevenson
THOMAS P. STEVENSON, 78, of FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP, died Friday, July 4 at home. Mr. Stevenson was born in Westfield, and resided there until moving to Freehold Township, three years ago. Mr. Stevenson was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Westfield, he served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the Martin Walberg Memorial American Legion Post No. 3 in Westfield as well as a member of the V.F.W. and the D.A.V. North Valley Chapter Post No. 32, Bergenfield, and a lifetime member of the NRA. He was the past president and secretary of the Fireman's Benevolent Association, Westfield. Mr. Stevenson was a Firefighter with the Westfield Fire Department, retiring in 1985 with the rank of Lieutenant.
He was predeceased by his grandson, James Stevenson Warnock in January 2007. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Carmella Stevenson of Freehold Township; one daughter and son-in-Law, Elizabeth and James Warnock of Freehold Township; three grandchildren, Jessica Lynn Warnock, Michael Patrick Warnock, and Thomas Addison Warnock of Freehold Township.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Clayton and McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township. Private funeral services and burial will take place on Tuesday.
