Obituary of Arthur Broadway

Arthur J. "Artie" Broadway, 79, of Freehold Township passed away on Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune. Artie was born in Manhattan, raised in Middle Village, and had lived in Ridgewood, Queens, Brentwood, Long Island, and Old Bridge, New Jersey before retiring to the Silvermead Community, Freehold Township, New Jersey in 1989. He was a U.S. Army Veteran during the Korean War. Artie was a truck driver for Hills Supermarkets in New York. He also worked for many other companies before his retirement in 1989. He was an active member of his community, participating in many activities such billiards and shuffleboard. Artie was devoted to the New York Yankees but his true love was for his family. Artie was predeceased by his twin sisters, Cecelia Harrison and Margaret Varga. He is survived by his wife, Marion Broadway; his children, Arthur Broadway of Las Vegas, NV, John Broadway and his wife, Diane of New Ringgold, PA, Marion Goldstein and her husband, David of Bayville, NJ, Kathleen Rotante and her husband, Raymond of Old Bridge, NJ and Barbara Shea and her husband, James of Old Bridge, NJ; seven grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held at the Clayton and McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township, on Thursday, January 8, 2015 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 8:30 PM with his funeral service to follow at 8:30 PM. Relatives and friends may gather at the funeral home on Friday, January 9, 2015 at 9:00 AM for the procession to Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle New Jersey Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown, for his 10:00 AM interment.
