Obituary of Dorothy Sawyer

Dorothy E. Sawyer, 88, of Freehold passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, January 18, 2015. She was born and raised in Mineola, NY and had lived in Long Island prior to settling in Freehold. She was a homemaker who took pride in raising her family, and an avid bowler, who enjoyed sewing and quilting. Dorothy was predeceased by her husband, Francis I. Sawyer, Jr. in 1999. She is survived by six children, Deborah Pellicano of Freehold, Richard Sawyer and his wife, Phyllis of Reunion, FL, Janet Robinson and her husband, Michael of Colorado Springs, CO, Warren Sawyer and his wife, Frances of St. James, L.I., NY, Annamarie Estivo and her husband, Michael of St. James, L.I., N.Y. and Dorothy "Dee" Leonardi and her husband, George of Freehold; twenty grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; one brother and five sisters. Visitation will be at St. James Funeral Home, 829 Middle Country Road, Route 25, St. James, NY 11780 on Thursday, January 22, 2015 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral service at the funeral home at 10:00 AM on Friday, January 23, 2015. Interment will be in Calverton National Cemetery, 210 Princeton Boulevard, Calverton, NY 11933. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Dorothy's memory may be made to National Kidney Foundation, 30 East 33rd Street, New York, NY 10016.
