Obituary of Mary Lazzaro

Mary Lazzaro, 101, of Freehold Township passed away on Thursday, January 22, 2015 at Bartley Healthcare, Jackson. Mary was born in the Bronx and had lived in Brooklyn and Staten Island before moving to Freehold Township in 2007. She worked in the packaging department at Macy's in New York City before she and her husband opened Tommy's Sweet Shoppe on Avenue U, where she was known as "Zip". Mary enjoyed playing poker and bingo and her trips to Atlantic City and Las Vegas. More than anything, she loved her family. Mary was predeceased by her husband, Tommy in 1975; a son, Thomas in 1993; and her sister, Yolanda Cullinan in 2007. She is survived by her daughter, Carole Curcio and her husband, Joe of Freehold Township; her grandchildren, Eric Curcio and his wife, Kim of Staten Island and Lisa Curcio of Staten Island; two great grandchildren, Nicole and Joseph; a nephew, James Cullinan and his wife, Kathy of Arizona; and two nieces, Maureen Merker and her husband, Peter of Ohio and Bonnii Gargano and her husband, Frank of Brooklyn. A visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Sunday, January 25, 2015 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the funeral home on Monday, January 26, 2015 at 9:00 AM for the procession to the Church of St. Robert Bellarmine, 61 Georgia Road, Freehold Township for her 10:00 AM Funeral Mass. Interment will follow in Ocean View Cemetery, Staten Island.
