Obituary of Ellsworth McClaren
Ellsworth "Ellsie" McClaren, 79, of Howell passed away on Thursday, February 26, 2015 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune. He was born in Elizabeth and raised in Manasquan before settling in Howell in 1961. After retiring as an operating engineer with IUOE Local 825, the highlight of Ellsie's day was riding with his nephew Chris on his gas route. He loved antique and race cars, local auto racing and operating heavy equipment. Ellsie was a man of simple needs who treasured his family.
He was predeceased by his parents, Eugene and Irma McClaren; his brothers, Kenneth and Wallace McClaren; and his sister, Allyene Hayden. Ellsworth is survived by his wife, Priscilla McClaren; two sons, Scott McClaren and his wife, Josette, and Blake McClaren and his wife, Diane, all of Howell; his grandchildren, Blake, Roxanne, Scott and Christopher; his sister, Beverly Ardis of Toms River; his brother, Richard McClaren of Florida; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Monday, March 2, 2015 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the funeral home on Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at 11:00 AM for his funeral service. Interment will follow in Adelphia Cemetery, Adelphia.
