Obituary of Josephine Jelinek
Josephine Jelinek, 104, of Freehold Township passed away on Monday, March 23, 2015 at Applewood Estates, Freehold Township. Josephine was born in Union Hill, raised in North Bergen and had lived in Little Ferry and Berkley Township before settling in Freehold Township. She was an elementary school teacher for 34 years retiring in 1972 from the Little Ferry Public School District and previously taught in North Bergen. Jo was active in the ladies senior center of Bayville, volunteered at both the Little Ferry and Bayville Public Libraries, was the President of the Beachwood Chapter of the AARP, a member of the Ocean County Education Association and volunteered at Community Medical Center in the Second Time Around Shop.
She was predeceased by her husband, Henry G. Jelinek; a grandson, Robert Jelinek; two brothers, Edward Hrbek and Theodore Hrbek; two sisters, Felicia Saunders and Helen Gerber; and a son-in-law, Robert Flory. Josephine is survived by her children, Ronald Jelinek and his wife, Barbara of West Milford, Marjorie Flory of Oro Valley, Arizona, Bill Jelinek and his wife, Jane of Freehold Township and Henry F. Jelinek and his wife, Beth of Sparta; twelve grandchildren; and nineteen great grandchildren.
All arrangements were private and under the direction of the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, Freehold Township. Inurnment was in Maple Grove Park Cemetery, Hackensack.
