Condolences
My condolences to Parker's Family and Friends,You don't know me but I'd like to share a story with you. I was on line looking for Bobby Thomas a fellow racer from back in the day,Bobby worked with Jimmy Hoffman and his #11's as did I.There came a time I decided I wanted to drive,my very first night on the track at Wall Stadium was one of those moments that live in your memory forever and is a featured story you bring out during the many "Bench Racing" sessions we Cherish these days. I was going out the Pits onto the track for my very first time, during that period all the classes warmed up together Modifies,Sportsman and the Limited Class. While sitting in line waiting to enter the track,it dawned on me I didn't know what to do? I had noticed Jim would get out on the track, go right to the bottom ride along at a decent pace, smoke a cigarettes and after a few laps warming his car up he would throw the cigarette out and move up onto the track and into race speed mode! I had a plan, everything was going along just fine,I made my way to the bottom of the track, was moving along at a nice pace staying out of everyone way, feeling pretty good about my self. I was ready to make the transition to "RACE SPEED MODE"!. I threw my cigarette out the side window and turned back to look out the front window, ready to GO!. Just then Parker passes me at the end of the Front straight and drop's down in front of me, I hear a loud explosion and see a Ball of Flame come out that Big Ol' Pipe enveloping the front of my car.Needless to say the was a rude awakening for this Rookie and quite startling to say the least! But,what happened next was even more exciting. I got up to speed and Parker, by then, had come up behind me, in the mean time all the other cars had left the track there was just Parker and me.We raced for around 10 laps,a match race of sorts, a V8 powered "Limited Sportsman" and the "Sportsman Champion" going head to head.Parker would just about get by me in the turn but my V8 power would pull him down the stretch,Well Parker never did get by me but he sure whacked my bumper good,LOL. When we got back into the pits Parker came over to my car and gave me quite a dressing down explaining I was to move out of the way when someone was banging on my bumper,we had a few words and I said being I was a Rookie and he was the "Sportsman Champion" he should have been able to pass me. I didn't have any real money to race and had just bought a set of " Racing Shocks" ,one broke, not having a spare I was done for the night and it looked like my Racing Debut would have to wait.Out of no were Parker was standing in front of me and asked what was wrong, after telling him, he asked what the Shock Model number was he then told me to come over to his car he had one I could use. That's Parker Bohn ,God Blessed Him!
Eddie & Kelly, We are sorry for your loss. Your dad was a great man. Sorry we were unable to attend the services. Joel,Karen,James & Jessica Adamo
What a great man Parker was. It was a privilege to know him. My condolences to all his family. My favorite memory of him was when I was very young. I lived with my family at the bottom of Georgia Schoolhouse Road. Parker & Butch came down Georgia Schoolhouse Road on a tractor and ran right into a tree in front of our house. Parker laughed and laughed and thought it was so funny that Butch (who was learning how to drive the tractor) missed the turn... My best to all. Jane
Our deepest sympathy to all of the Bohn family. When we moved our young family here from Connecticut 33 years ago, it was to be closer to dirt racing; but our first visit to a racetrack after our move was to Wall Stadium. It was our first Saturday living in New Jersey and the #659 was legendary with Parker Bohn at the wheel. What a rush to see him on the track that night! A few years later we met Parker when we bought a trailer from him. He made us feel as though we had known him for years, and he became a good friend. We never raced with him. We had dirt cars; but he was a man who was generous with his knowledge and willing to help a fellow racer learn. We will miss him. Dick and Carolyn Bartlett
Time seems to speed constantly by, never stopping even for a moment. We each are given but a second in this world. You lived your time to the fullest never looking back or giving time to regrets. I find peace in the knowledge that your pain is over and an even deeper peace knowing that your memory will live on through the legacy that you left behind. I learned many things from you and the life you lived, to always look towards the future, and not be held captive by the past. Most of all that the choices we make create the legacy of our lives. Loved you always, Grandpop. Joanann, Rick, Lacey and Keith
To the family of Parker Bohn, We offer our most sincere condolences for your loss. While I am sure you do not know us, and in celebration of his life, I have a cute story to tell of Parker Bohn and how a day at the races truly puts someone in your life for a reason or a season. It was 24 years ago at New Egypt Speedway where a chance meeting with Parker Bohn took place. I was a race fan following my driver from his home tracks in NY (Islip Speedway and Riverhead Raceway) to NJ, to watch him compete in the modified division. I also was an assistant scorer at Islip Speedway and Riverhead Raceway working under the direction of Thelma Fetherston. It was a gloriously sunny summer day and I arrived early at the Speedway. I took my seat in the Pit stands and was the only person in the stands at the time. As I watched what I describe as "the ballet of race preparation" an older gentleman appeared in the stands and made his way to where I was sitting. I use the term "older" lightly now some 24 years later. After Parker sat beside me we began to talk. He thought it odd I was sitting there so early and all alone. Not knowing who he was, and figuring he was just an "old" local race fan I welcomed the company. I shared with him how I came to be a race fan after years of my parents taking me to Islip Speedway to watch our neighbors Bobby Taylor, Benny Giarraputo and RJ Faveau race in the Figure Eight Division. He said he new Islip Speedway quite well as he himself had raced there. He then introduced himself as Parker Bohn. His name meant nothing to me at the time, but his smile said it should have. We watched the ballet of preparation together. I explained to him for me, the beginning of the ballet was always so interesting and quite comical watching the varying levels of expertise within the ranks. Some crews were precision like in their dance. Each step, each prop, each movement purposeful and exact. Others tripped over each other, dropped tools and tires and bloodied themselves. The ballet was never boring. He enjoyed my analogy I think, as he said he never watched the ballet that way before. We laughed and he shared with me his knowledge of the local front runners including his son, and who my drivers competition was. He was very knowledgeable. I realized he was more than just a fan. We shared a nice conversation that day and when the ballet of preparation was just about complete, the pits full and practice about to begin we shook hands, wished good luck to each others drivers said our goodbyes. Before he left he asked one more question. Why would my driver let me sit all alone in the pit stands. I confided in him "I really didn't know" but I was sure I wouldn't sit there alone to long. He smiled and said "you my dear are so right". My driver didn't win that night and if my memory serves me well his did. When I went to work the following night at Islip Speedway I asked my mentor Thelma Fetherston about the man I met in the Pit Stands at New Egypt. I told her my story and when I told her his name, her eyes widened and a huge smile came across her face as though a distant memory had crashed the present moment. She said with excitement in her voice "Ann Parker Bohn used to come from NJ and blow the doors off our guys". I blushed, as I remembered his smile after his introduction. He didn't brag or boast about who he was and what he had accomplished in racing. He just had fun with my innocence and learned a new ballet. Oh and one more thing. My driver didn't let me sit alone in those stands to long. He married me. Thank you Parker Bohn for the memories. Godspeed, Ann and Chris Young #49 NASCAR Modifed
To the family of Parker Bohn, Sr., I'm sorry for the loss of your father and grandfather. I was a fan back in the day at Wall Stadium. I will always remember the "659" car with the GMC engine and stovepipe exhaust, which frequently emitted explosive booming sounds. Mr. Bohn was the most experienced driver out there, and it showed in the way he got around that track. Best wishes, Mike Walsh Point Pleasant Beach
Parker will always be remembered as a legendary driver and a pioneer in Northeast auto racing. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Eddie, Kelly and the entire Bohn family.

Condolences from my family to yours in your time of sadness. May you find peace from Parker's life lessons and many success’s. He lived his life with passion, understanding that his happiness was the journey, not a destination. He was steadfast in his power of belief, patience and persistence. Parker was always a winner. Many fond memories will remain with me and my family because Parker was “Parker”.
