Obituary of Anna McGrath

Anna M. McGrath, 85, of Freehold Township passed away on Saturday, April 4, 2015 at home. Anna was born in Jersey City, New Jersey, where she met the love of her life, her husband Joseph, at five years old. They were happily married for 52 years. She and her husband resided in California where they started their family, before returning to New Jersey and settling in South Plainfield. Anna and her family were residents of South Plainfield for over 30 years. She moved to Greenbriar Woodlands in Toms River in 1994, where she and her husband shared many happy days, and many good friendships within that community. She moved to Freehold in 2008 into the loving home of her daughter, Anna, and her family, and shared that home where she was cared for until her passing. Anna was a loving mother, a devoted wife, a wonderful grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt and friend. She will always be loved and forever be missed by each life that she touched during her time here on Earth. Anna was predeceased by her husband, Joseph P. McGrath in 2007; her parents, William and Agnes Keenan; her four sisters, Kitty Keenan, Pat Heumann, Peggy Londrigan, and Mary Dempsey. She is survived by her five children, Mary Horowitz, Dorothy Mellin, Anna Lardaro, Julia, Grace Rogers, their spouses, and her eleven grandchildren whom she dearly loved. She is also survived by two sisters, Ellie Butler, and Rose Sadowski, a brother, Patrick Keenan; and numerous nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Wednesday, April 8, 2015 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM. Relatives and friends may gather at the funeral home on Thursday, April 9, 2015 at 9:00 AM for the procession to St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church, 61 Georgia Road, Freehold Township for her 10:00 AM Funeral Mass. Entombment will be private.
