Obituary of Francis Lagno
Francis A. Lagno, 94, of Freehold Township passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on
Thursday, April 16, 2015. Frank was born in Brooklyn, NY; raised in the Annandale section of Staten
Island and lived in the Eltingville section of Staten Island before moving to Freehold Township in 1966.
He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. Frank was an Area Manager for
Western Electric, NYC where he worked for over forty years, retiring in 1982. He was a parishioner
and usher at St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church and served on their Golf Outing Committee. Frank
was a member of the Anderson‐Lagno VFW Post #5090, Staten Island and the Telephone Pioneers of
America. He was an avid golfer as evidenced by his hole‐in‐one at Howell Golf Course, loved bowling at
Howell Lanes and was doing both until he was 90.
Frank was predeceased by four brothers, Paul, John, Edward, and Rocco; and a sister, Louise
Tornquist. He is survived by his wife of sixty‐eight years, June Lagno; seven children, Mary Elizabeth
Barbes (Charles Petren) of Whiting, Teresa Voronov (Michael) of Clarksboro, Barbara Lagno of Point
Pleasant, Paul Lagno (Joyce) of Bloomingdale, IL, Agnes Mullins of Freehold Twp., Francis Lagno
(Kathleen) of Salt Point, NY, and Margaret Forrest (Richard) of Avondale, PA; twelve grandchildren; nine
great grandchildren; three brothers, Gus, Robert, and Richard; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton‐Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold
Township on Monday, April 20, 2015 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM. Relatives and friends are
invited to gather at the funeral home at 9:00 AM on Tuesday, April 21, 2015 for the procession to his
10:00 AM Funeral Mass at St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church, 61 Georgia Road, Freehold Township.
Entombment will follow in St. Rose of Lima Catholic Cemetery, Freehold Township.
