Obituary of LeRoy Cottrell

LeROY W. COTTRELL, 95, of FARMINGDALE, died Sunday, Aug. 3, at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Mr. Cottrell was born in Hightstown and was raised and had lived in Spotswood before moving to Farmingdale in 1980. He was an IBM supervisor for National Lead Industries, South Amboy for 41 years, retiring in 1977. He was a former member and elder of the Spotswood Reformed Church. He was also a superintendent of the Sunday school at the church. He was a member of the Pierce Memorial Church, Farmingdale. He was also a member of the Farmingdale Historical Society. Mr. Cottrell loved being with his family, spending time fishing at Seaside and camping with the Sundowners Club. He was predeceased by his sister, Myrtle; and a brother, Harvey. Surviving are his wife of 70 years, Martha Lewis Cottrell; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Lois and Gerhard Cremer of Augusta, Ga., Janet and Paul Shelton of Howell, and Virginia Conklin of Howell; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Visiting hours will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. today at Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Old Tennent Cemetery, Tennent.
