Obituary of Stephen Russak

Stephen G. Russak, 84, of Freehold Township passed away peacefully at The Manor on Friday, July 3, 2015. Mr. Russak was born in Brooklyn, and lived in North Massapequa, Long Island before moving to Freehold Township in 1966, settling in Silvermead in 1994. Stephen was employed as a sales representative for Luce, Schwab & Kase, a wholesale Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Company operating out of Fairfield, NJ and was a member of the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers Mr. Russak had a long history of civic engagement. In addition to being a member of the Hope Lutheran Church, he was a member and past President Freehold Optimist Club and past Lt. Governor of the NJ District, a member of the Molly Pitcher Chapter #198 Order of the Eastern Star Freehold, the Olive Branch Lodge #16 F & AM of Freehold and the Shriners and Scottish Rite Valley of Trenton. He served Freehold Township as a Special Police Officer from 1972-1989, and was a member of the Recreation Commission, the Board of Fire Commissioners, and the Fire Prevention Bureau. He was also a member of the East Freehold Fire Department and Freehold Independent Fire Department. Mr. Russak was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, attaining the rank of Sergeant. Related to his military service, he was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 74 of Freehold, a member of the 25th Division Association, and the Korean War Veteran Association of Monmouth County. Stephen was predeceased by his loving wife, Leonore in 2007. Visitation will be at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Thursday, July 9, 2015 from 12:00 to 1:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his 2:00 PM graveside funeral service at Brigadier General Wm. C. Doyle NJ Veteran's Cemetery, Arneytown.
